Viet Nam actively participates in activities in ATF 2015

On 26 January 2015 in Myanmar International Convention Centre 2, Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, the opening ceremony and welcome dinner of ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2015 were held with the theme “ASEAN Tourism towards Peace, Prosperity and Partnership”.

First held in 1981 in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), ATF is the biggest event in the framework of ASEAN tourism cooperation, take place annually and alternately in ASEAN member countries to build ASEAN into a common destination towards sustainable tourism development, contribute to boosting culture exchange and cooperation, strengthening peace and prosperity in the region.

In recent years, Viet Nam tourism sector regularly participates in ATFs, at the same time organizes tourism promotion programs to enhance to introduce the image of Vietnamese country, people, culture and tourism to international friends. Especially, the successful host of ATF 2009 in Ha Noi contributed to affirming the position of Viet Nam's tourism in the region.

In 2015, the 34th ATF is hosted by Myanmar from 22 to 29 January 2015, attracting the participations of about 2,000 delegates from 50 countries and territories including ministers of tourism; leaders of national tourism organizations (NTOs); tour operators, hotels, local and international media.

In the framework of ATF 2015, Viet Nam’s delegation led by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan takes part in many important conferences and meetings such as the 41st meeting of ASEAN NTOs, the 26th meeting of ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) NTOs; the 13th ASEAN-India Tourism Working Group; the 5th ASEAN-Russian Federation Tourism Consultation; the 18th meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers; the 14th  meeting of ASEAN, China, Japan and RoK Tourism Ministers; the 5th meeting of ASEAN-India Tourism Ministers; ASEAN Ministers and Partners Consultation (UNWTO, ACC, AJC and AKC); ASEAN Tourism Ministers Press Conference; ASEAN Tourism Conference (ATC)...

Among them, in the 41st meeting of ASEAN NTOs from 22 to 23 January 2015, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Department, under Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Tran Phu Cuong represented Viet Nam as the Chairman of Marketing and Communication Working Group to present the outstanding results in implementation of ASEAN Tourism Marketing Strategic in the period of 2013-2014, including building ASEAN tourism website www.aseantourism.travel; implementing to explore Chinese market through Chinese websites www.dongnanya.travel and social network http://weibo.com/LoveAsean; building and implementing campaign of experience and creativity tourism market with the theme “ASEAN Diversity”, the campaign to promote intra-regional tourism “ASEAN for ASEAN”; strengthening cooperation, especially with Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and the ASEAN Tripper magazine; printing logo of ASEAN tourism “Southeast Asia - Feel the warmth” in tourism promotion publications of the countries; completion of marketing strategy towards market segments of official and discovery/adventure tourists; establishing market research group and holding a number of public relations activities to promote ASEAN tourism; promotion in the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2013; the activities of ASEAN Tourism Promotion Offices in Mumbai (India) and Sydney (Australia).

In particular, from 28 to 29 January 2015, VNAT jointed in TRAVEX 2015 in Myanmar International Convention Centre 1, Nay Pyi Taw. This is the most important tourism promotion activity of ASEAN countries. In TRAVEX 2015, VNAT built Viet Nam’s booth with an area of 54m² which had the participations of departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of some localities to introduce new tourism products, incentives for tourism development and emerging destinations of Viet Nam to international friends. Reportedly, TRAVEX 2015 attracts the participations of 527 booths from 10 ASEAN member countries.

The 35th ATF will be held in Manila (Philippines) in January 2016.
